Alison K. Pollack Interior Design (formerly Earth Friendly Interior Design) has specialized in nontoxic, sustainable design and construction materials since the firms’ inception, in 1993.
In partnership with Joe Kahn, her Project Manager and an industry leader in the specification and application of alternative construction materials, she embarked upon a journey of intensive research and experimentation in the early stages, a course of action that gave Alison her strong foundation in this niche market. She premiered the first of several Green and nontoxic spaces for west coast designer showcase tours and the first, of several, Green, nontoxic spaces for HGTV national programming. She is credited with establishing the first nontoxic furnishings line in L.A., AKP fine earth friendly furnishings, represented at Nierman Weeks, as well as an organic, nontoxic nursery bedding line, Suite Baby...organic nursery, represented at Livingreen.
Hailed today by her esteemed colleagues as one who spearheaded the burgeoning Green movement in the interior design industry, she enjoys the pioneer status garnered as a direct result of her proactive pursuit of responsible design excellence.
"Alison Pollack has made a name for herself…providing [her] clients with a unique opportunity, to live in beauty with the added security of knowing that those surroundings are devoid of toxins that live invisibly in many interior environments today".  -Imprint Publications
An award winning designer and published author on the topic of Green design, Alison believes that sacrificing the health of people and planet alike, for beautiful surroundings and functional living, is an avoidable happenstance. It is the protection of these vital life systems that fuels her artistic drive and sustains her creative muse. Good design does not have to be adversarial or detractive, it can and must embody good stewardship.
While not a purist, Alison strives consistently and professionally to provide a better, more environmentally compatible and graceful solution in response to all design challenges, infusing her designed environments with care, conscience and quality.
Durability and longevity, budgetary responsiveness and heirloom excellence are the sound tenets of her eco-positive approach to adding to the quality of life of her clientele.
Alison lectures frequently to design students throughout L.A. county and Orange county, speaking on Green design and the state of the industry. She has been profiled among L.A.s’ top interior designers in Building Los Angeles, by Imprint Publications. During her many years with the ASID-LA chapter, she chaired and co-chaired multiple committees including creating and chair-ing the Environmental Affairs Committee focusing on environmentally friendly design and chaired the LEED Certification committee supporting USGBCs’ Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. She’s a recipient of ASID-LAs’ Presidential Citation for special recognition.
